The Department of Sciences and Humanities at FAST-NUCES Lahore Campus hosted an engaging seminar titled “Unmasking the Author: Theoretical and Forensic Approaches in Authorship Analysis” on November 17, 2025, at the Library Conference Hall. Students and faculty explored how linguistic theory and forensic methods work together to uncover the identity of unknown writers. The session was led by Ma. Kaela Joselle R. Madrunio of the Philippine Normal University, Manila—an accomplished forensic linguistics expert and the first Filipino scholar to graduate from the Aston Institute for Forensic Linguistics. Her rich academic and professional experience offered valuable global and practical insights. Participants learned about the three main tasks of authorship analysis, the role of linguistic patterns and stylistic markers, and how computational tools support forensic investigations. The seminar also touched on challenges posed by anonymized digital communication and AI-generated texts, alongside the ethical use of linguistic evidence. An interactive Q&A concluded the event, leaving participants with a deeper appreciation of how language functions as both a personal signature—or linguistic DNA—and a powerful tool for truth-seeking.
