The talk “Friend or Foe: The Role of AI and Machine Learning in Cyber Security” was held on Friday, 7th November 2025, at 10:00 AM in the Old Auditorium, FAST-NUCES Lahore Campus. The event was organized by ACM. The guest speaker was Dr. Rasheed Hussain, Senior Lecturer at the University of Bristol. Around 50 students attended the session. Dr. Rasheed spoke about how artificial intelligence is transforming the field of cybersecurity. He discussed topics such as digital twins, neural networks, and generative AI, explaining how these technologies can be used both to protect and to attack digital systems. He encouraged students to critically analyze whether AI serves as an ally or a threat in cyber defense. Students showed great interest and asked thoughtful questions about AI fairness, ethical challenges, and the future of cybersecurity. Dr. Rasheed addressed each query in detail, sharing valuable insights from his professional experience. The session was highly engaging and educational, helping students better understand how AI is shaping the future of digital security.
