MS-SPM student at CS department of FAST-NUCES Lahore campus Humaira Aslam Chughtai has presented her paper at the 3rd IEEE International Conference on Advancements in Computational Sciences (ICACS 2020) earlier this week and has won the Best Paper Award for her paper titled "People Profile Metrics for Improved Classification of Defect-Prone Files in Open Source Projects".
The paper was part of MS Thesis work of Humaira and was co-authored by Dr. Zeeshan Ali Rana. The paper suggested the use of people related metrics for better prediction of defect proneness. The people related metrics were collected from Github profiles of contributors of open source projects and were used as input to the classifiers namely Decision Tree, Random Forest, and K-Nearest Neighbors. All models performed better (in terms of Recall and Precision) than the similar models developed using static code and code change metrics. The conference dates were February 17-19, 2020, and it was hosted by the University of Lahore.
