Pakistan recently witnessed a landmark achievement in robotics and underwater technology with the inaugural National Autonomous Submersible Design Competition 2026, hosted by the University of Lahore. Team RoboSapiens, comprising students from the BS Electrical Engineering program at FAST-NUCES Lahore Campus, has proudly secured the Best Design Award in the competition.
The competition brought together talented engineering students from across the country to design innovative solutions for challenging underwater applications. Representing the Department of Electrical Engineering, FAST-NUCES Lahore, Team RoboSapiens comprised Mr. Muhammad, Mr. Ch. Hussnain Tahir, Ms. Yashfa Iqbal, Ms. Zainab Rashid, and Mr. Awais Iqbal. The team presented its autonomous submersible design before a distinguished panel comprising senior leadership of the Pakistan Navy and the Pakistan Naval Police. Their innovative design and strong technical execution earned them the Best Design Award, marking an impressive achievement for FAST-NUCES.
The achievement reflects the strong culture of innovation, hands-on engineering, and real-world problem-solving fostered at FAST-NUCES Lahore, while highlighting the capabilities of its Electrical Engineering students in emerging fields such as robotics technology and autonomous systems.
