Together for Tolerance(TFT) Workshop

On Wednesday 27th April 2016 Placement office successfully organized an introductory TFT Workshop with students. Together for Tolerance (TFT) is Pakistan’s largest youth movement with its presence in 70 universities in more than 30 cities across the 5 provinces of Pakistan.
TFT operates on the model of working with communities to adopt and internalize tolerance in the experience of life. Following the workshop Summer Internships Program 16 was announced for students.

A One Day Symposium titled, ‘Pakistan-India Transboundary Water Disputes’ was held at National University of Computers of Engineering and Computer Sciences at its Lahore Campus, sponsored by its Civil Engineering Department which has recently started a Masters Program in Hydraulics and Water Resources focusing among other things on Transboundary Water Issues particularly with India. The Symposium focused on detailed presentation by Mirza Asif Baig, Pakistan Commissioner on Indus Waters, who explained in great detail to the technical experts gathered from all over the country about the Neutral Expert Decision on Baglihar Dam and the Court of Arbitration Decision on Neelum-Jhelum- Kishenganga case. The presentation was followed by detailed panel discussions by leading experts in the country who opined that Pakistan must remain vigilant on hydropower development by India on River Chenab and River Jhelum which according to Indus Water Treaty belong to Pakistan on which no storage projects are allowed to India.
Dr. Mansoor Ahmed Hashmi, Advisor, Civil Engineering Department FAST-NU Lahore Campus, speaking earlier emphasized the use of new technologies of remote sensing and GIS which can be effectively used to monitor violations by India which routinely hides information from Pakistan of its projects.

On Friday 29th April FAST Alumni Network, a platform exclusively for Alumni of FAST is launched at FAST-NU Lahore Campus. This portal will enable the university to connect with Alumni of all campuses across the world. It will also help alumni to connect with each other and create a sustainable bond.

Shajar-e-Umeed to Support Education of Our Underprivileged Brethren

The Students of BBA ’12 to Support Education of Their Underprivileged Brethren: Shajar-e-Umeed organized a painting competition on the 16th.of April, 2016 at Sultan Bahoo School.

There were seven teams of not only FAST, but of Punjab University (PU) and National College of Arts (NCA) liaising with each other to support the noble cause that Shajar-e-Umeed stands for. The purpose of the competition was to create awareness towards the education of the underprivileged so that they could also lead a meaningful life to build a great nation.
The participating members demonstrated their aesthetic potential to refurbish and bring life to the walls of the school. The competition was followed by an informal sing-along of patriotic songs which made the children beam with joy. 
An appreciation shield was awarded to the winning team, who were also pupils of FAST University. In addition, the owners of the school wished all the children a bright future and also hoped that Shajar-e-Umeed will continue to strive for the development of the underprivileged to lead Pakistan towards betterment.

Famous Professor Hoodbhoy is going to visit FAST-NU Lahore and would be talking on

"The discovery of Gravitational Waves -- Why are we so excited?"

It's a "pure science" talk and show "our love to learn the latest developments in science".

A Talk would be held on Tuesday 19th, April 2016 1:45pm-3:00pm Syed Rafaqat Auditorium Fast-NU Lahore.

Confiz’ Representative gave a brief intro about their multinational company. Their clients include:

Then he gave instructions about the test to the fresh grads. Aptitude and technical skills are evaluated. It’s a 60 minute test. Exceptional grade holders will be called for further proceedings.

Interface, the literary society of FAST Lahore, organized the first ever Literary Festival on the 8th of April, 2016. The day was jam packed with competitions and talks that started early in the morning and lasted the whole day. Students from schools and universities all across Lahore took part in the various competitions like essay writing, online poetry writing, literary trivia and scrabble. The participants, as well as the students of the campus, got the chance to interact with important literary figures who shared with the students their achievements and literary triumphs. The guests speakers invited for the talks were, Dr. Mehjabeen Abidi, author of Water in the Wilderness, Mr. Imraan Peerzada, the renowned filmmaker, and Ms. Amal Zaraar, an inspirational teenager whose project, Kitabi Keera, led to a book drive that resulted in the creation of 120 libraries. Stalls by Oxford University Press and Digital Realm were also set on campus. Street theatre was performed periodically along the highway for the entertainment of the university students and participants, along with a poetry open mic, where artists recited their original work to an enthralled audience.
